RHYE
In 2004, my main source was myspace music; where I came across genres that defined my adolescence. By 2013, spotify had increasingly become my go-to for digging new tunes. 2013 was a becoming year for me; throughout a transition of friendships and love, my essence came into fruition; Woman was an album I resorted back to sonically.
This past Saturday, I experienced Milosh perform at Miami North Bandshell hosted by The Rhythm Foundation. In it’s mini-Palladium like architecture, the resonating art-deco futurism that was somehow lost along the way, becoming a treasure just a little bit North of The Fillmore. Beneath delicately stretched fairy lights and spinning disco ball, is where the Rhythm Foundation gives Miami a chance to experience incredible acts that might otherwise not be able to.
Rhye opened with “Verse”, horns guiding the acoustic strings without error.
Comparing 2013 Rhye to Live Rhye, their performance, was without a doubt an obvious refusal to regurgitate & fit into a sub-genre. Their set was experimentally engaging and unpredictable to what was heard on their album. The important distinction of that night was none of the players overcame the other, humbly complimenting each other. Lovers alike in the crowd, swayed and kissed; held each other to Milosh's sultry voice.
