Happy 4th, righ'?
What better way than to start a "lit" weekend with Dad's Barbecue? Colombia VS. Brazil soccer games inaugurated this weekend, Joe Arroyo in the background and grandma incessantly stepping to every beat. We pulled our chairs together and I continued a fire weekend with Independence Day explosions. Ever so often I swing by Catalyst on Saturday to peep some bboy battles and get in my Stevie B groove. The floor gets a hit of windmills and too much pride banging the floor. Styled with sweat pants and the classic Adidas; BBoys always get me grooving. Electric Pickle hosted a night for the hip-hop heads, none other than Stones Throw turntabalist and producer, J. Rocc. Coming in with some appropriate strains of samba to celebrate Brazil's win. A mélange of hip hop, salsa, and deep house soon made way from my heart to my hips, there was no way to call it a night. In the heat of the musical strains and during my get down, epiphanies came and went... I enjoy photographing night events despite its cons, in exchange for the energy a dance floor has to offer, it's the closest to a camp fire and a drums I'll ever be, and everyone is smiling. A shout out to Soul Amazing for the invite and hosting a phenomenal night.
